The MARKED cavy are short/smooth coated cavies who have two or more colours placed on certain areas of their body. These breeds are judged highly on the placings of these colours - according to their breed standard and occur penalties when these markings are not 'precisely' positioned.
Many of these breeds do not "breed true" meaning that if you have two show parents you may not get any showable babies. On the other hand u may have two non-showable adults who produce very nicely marked babies. I guess you could call it a 'lucky dip' situation, a bit of a "hit and a miss".
